Gartner: New IT Jobs … Gartner outlined four new IT jobs to become fashionable: legal and IT hybrids, digital archivists, business information managers, and enterprise information architects. On group 3, “There will be an increasing trend to combine business and information management expertise in a single role, carried out by a single person, rather than a “business and IT partnership” with two people, two hierarchies and two sets of reporting relationships. One company already taking this approach achieved all its objectives including a cost reduction for the department of 10 percent in the first year. Gartner expects 20 percent of companies to employ business information managers by 2013, compared with 5 percent in 2009.” More
Motorola vs RIM … Motorola wants RIM to stop importing BlackBerry devices into the US, due to alleged patent infringement. “Motorola, based in Schaumburg, Ill., is seeking an order that would prohibit RIM from importing infringing products, selling infringing products that have already been imported and marketing and advertising those products. Motorola said the patents at issue cover “early stage innovations developed by Motorola in key technology areas,” including such as Wi-Fi access, application management, user interface and power management.” More
