IBM announced the availability of mobile device support for IBM Lotus Connections, with apps available for BlackBerry, Android, and Apple devices (shown above):
“With today’s news, IBM is delivering its industry leading Connections social networking software for mobile devices. Customers can easily download the software from all major app stores including Android, Apple, and BlackBerry, and gain immediate access to blogs, employee data, status updates, wikis, as well as share files, videos and photos.
As part of today’s news, IBM also is helping IT administrators simplify the management of corporate and personal data on employee devices. “
In the press release, reference is made to Cummins, a Fortune 500 engine design and manufacturing firm with 40,000 employees, and its use of IBM Lotus Notes Traveler for access to mail, calendar, contacts, and to do lists on mobile devices. It doesn’t say they are using Connections, however. Perhaps that is coming.
