Wikis Transformation of Knowledge
Dimitri writes about how wikis are transforming knowledge management. His main point: wikis enable everyone to be in on the sharing of knowledge. “The wiki concept has begun to revolutionize knowledge management by making it much simpler, instead of making it more complex, as some other technologies have done. Wikis enable anyone to publish knowledge easily and store that information in a centralized database. Wikipedia is the most renowned wiki. This encyclopedia on the Web is written by those who visit the site, with contributions from around the world on every imaginable topic. At last report, Wikipedia incorporated nearly 2.4 million articles, far more knowledge than could be stored in a usable manner in a printed reference series or a portal system.“
HyLighter is an online co-editing tool for teams. “Use HyLighter to collect highlighting and comments from small to large groups on any size document. Patented color-coded maps and customizable tables show a group’s collective annotation and, additionally, reveal how responses of a single individual compares to the group or selected participants.” See demos for more.
Planning Tool for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007
Microsoft released the Edge Planning Tool for OCS 2007. “Simply put, the planning tool takes a lot of the guesswork out of the Edge configuration by asking straight forward questions about the design of the current network, the configuration of the Edge server, specific IP addresses, etc. The process identifies where best practices are observed and where they are ignored, summarizing everything in separate reports upon completion.“
