Wow, life is ever so busy at the moment … and finding quiet times to write and think are few and precious between. Four things of note that I wanted to share:
- My PhD Proposal is Almost Done … I’ve been working on my PhD proposal for the last 7 months. Down here in NZ a PhD is by thesis only–no course work as is common in the US. So as a part-time student, my PhD is going to take 4-5 years of work. I’ve almost finished the proposal part … and will be presenting that next Friday (March 23) to the staff in my department. I’m very excited about the research, which looks at virtual teams, asynchronous virtual workspace technologies, and how to enhance performance outcomes through certain interventions. It will be a while before I’ll have results to share, however.
- Running is Going Great … I’ve been running 6km 3-4 times a week for the past month, and this past Sunday I almost doubled it to 11.5km. At 8.40pm on Sunday night (yes, it was dark out) I set off and got home at 9.50pm (yes, it was even darker out). But apart from a 4 minute stop at 42m30s to refill my water bottles, I ran the whole way. I did the run again yesterday without stopping once. I can’t believe it … I’ve never been a runner before, but a bit of concentrated effort day-after-day makes a huge difference within only a few short months. Hat tip to Jeff for his running coaching by email.
- I hit the 1,000 post mark recently … When I shuttered Shared Spaces in April 2006, I lamented the fact that I’d missed the 1,000 post mark. But with the 700 or so posts from there, plus the 300 or so here, I’m at about 1030 in total as off today. Wow.
- It’s that time of the year again … Another year of life rolls by, and I turn 35 tomorrow (March 17th down here). There’s definitely been a lot to learn in the past 12 months, and wow, even a new little life has been added to our family. Praise God for His faithfulness to me and my family during the past year. As far as I know, we’re just having a quiet day here, given some of the very busy days coming up in the next couple of weeks.
Time to get on with my presentation for Monday …
