My project for this week was to get SharePoint Server 2010 installed on a new Lenovo W510. I took possession of the machine 8 days before the earthquake, and hadn’t turned it on. It got hit, as I said, but it was more than a scratch. As above, when I powered it on, the screen is cracked inside.
In comparison to having my kids hurt in the earthquake (which they weren’t), it’s nothing … but … it still hurts.

Ouch.
Replacing the screen shouldn’t be too painful through an eBay new or refurbished replacement part.
Fortunately you’re very much right, kids are far more precious than earthquakes destroying technology.
