Day CQ for SharePoint
Day Software released a connector for SharePoint. “According to Day, this connector is an opportunity for organizations to take SharePoint to the enterprise level, something they see a demand for. Of course you need Day’s enterprise content repository there as well. In this scenario, either Day or SharePoint could be the front-end. Day believes they can help SharePoint become more enterprise ready — by hooking up with their ECM solution that provides stronger capabilities for multi-site, multi-lingual and globalization management.“
Open Text to Acquire Captaris
Open Text announced plans to acquire Captaris for $131 million. “The acquisition will expand Open Text’s offerings by creating tighter integration with Open Text’s invoice management solutions that work on SAP and Oracle. Captaris also offers business information and delivery solutions built on the Microsoft .NET framework, which process and automate the flow of content.” This is business-as-usual for Open Text … acquire frequently as a means of growth. GroupWise and the iPhone
CompanionLink Software released iClink to sync GroupWise and the iPhone. “The iClink software runs on the iPhone and works with CompanionLink Professional desktop software. The solution allows iPhone users to access and edit their GroupWise contacts, calendar events, recurring appointments, tasks, and notes directly on their device. Two-way wireless sync ensures that data modified in either GroupWise or on the iPhone will always remain in sync.“
And while we are talking about GroupWise, Novell released the beta of GroupWise 8, for Windows, Mac and Linux users, which some analysts are pooh-poohing.
Novell Teaming
Novell released a Starter Pack program for Teaming + Conferencing, its new collaboration offering. “Available as an easy, pre-installed download with a quick start guide and tutorial videos, the Starter Pack is a risk-free way for organizations to try next generation collaboration tools and experience more productive and creative teamwork to drive better business results.“
Petris PetrisWINDS iShare
Petris Technology released PetrisWINDS iShare, a collaboration toolset for energy teams. “With iShare, teams can manage a broad range of energy-related information assets. Applications of iShare include property asset marketing (online data rooms), due diligence collaboration, post merger data transfer, sharing of project data (joint venture production data for example) – anything where you want users to have easy access to data of all types from one browser based interface. Zoho Docs
Zoho announced Zoho Docs, a central dashboard of all your Zoho documents and spreadsheets. “Zoho Docs supports folders. You can drag-n-drop files to these folders. The folder structure you create in Zoho Docs will be the common folder structure inside Zoho. Eventually this folder structure will appear in all other Zoho Applications. Apart from aggregating you documents, the application also lets you view your documents, spreadsheets and presentations as a tab within the application. If you choose to edit any of these files, the file is opened in Edit mode in the appropriate Zoho Application. All documents inside Zoho Docs can be tagged, Downloaded, Shared etc. They can also be sorted by name, creation date and modified date.“
Email Prioritizer for Outlook
Microsoft released a do not disturb add-in for Outlook. “Email Prioritizer provides a “do not disturb” button that temporarily pauses new email arrival from ten minutes up to four hours. Email Prioritizer will also assign priority ratings of 0 to 3 stars to incoming mail to help users focus their attention on the most important email messages.“
