Team Collaboration

  • IntelliGantt for MindManager … TeamDirection released an add-on for Mindjet MindManager, linking it to IntelliGantt and thus SharePoint and Groove. Eg, for publishing topics and subtopics to a SharePoint task list. “What’s more, using our IntelliGantt sharing capabilities, its just a couple clicks to share a scheduled map in to a SharePoint or Groove task list. But that’s not the end of the story as all IntelliGantt projects maps are bidirectional. This means the topics and subtopics you publish to SharePoint and Groove can be modified by people using only their browser or a Groove client. Best of all, these updates can be incorporated back in to the original map.” Major kewl. IntelliGantt (hat tip, Ian)
  • Share a Portfolio of Documents … ThinkFree added the ability to share a portfolio of documents, spreadsheets and presentations within its online office environment, rather than on items one-by-one. “You can share the entire Portfolio with others. They can add comments to the Portfolio, even supporting materials, and those materials will become part of the Portfolio for others to see. It’s a powerful feature that recognizes the reality that documents are not always stand-alone and that we need ways to manage and share groups of documents as well.ThinkFree

Mobility

  • SEVEN Purchases Visto Patent License … Visto and SEVEN announced a conclusion to their three year patent dispute, with SEVEN acquiring a license to Visto’s patent portfolio. “As part of the agreement, SEVEN has acknowledged the validity and enforceability of Visto’s patent portfolio and has agreed to licensing terms including monetary and non-monetary considerations. Both companies will dismiss all pending legal claims in all jurisdictions.Visto

Productivity

  • Declutter … Merlin offers a series of links to decluttering resources … and encourages readers to do more than “read and gawk” … “Take at least one step today to do something that clears a single small area or that ensures one dead piece of your world gets delivered to the curb.43folders
  • Be Courteous … “One of the things getting lost in the Web 2.0 shuffle is common courtesy. While this was a problem in the Web 1.0 world as well, collaboration tools such as instant messaging make it as easy to irritate a co-worker as to inform him.ITBusinessEdge

Other Stuff

  • Blogs vs. Articles … One delivers “snippets of good information”, whereas the other tends to be boring and not engaging. “Articles certainly have their place and there are people that do both but blogs have opened up knowledge sharing beyond what traditional articles have and shouldn’t be compared with something as structured as an article.Contextia
  • Software Assurance = Bad … Forrester Research says that Microsoft is facing defections among its corporate customers over Software Assurance, due to high cost and long stretches between upgrade releases. “In research published today, Forrester Research Inc. analyst Julie Giera said that based on interviews with 63 Microsoft customers, 25% won’t renew their maintenance contracts and another third remain undecided.ComputerWorld
