It’s time to participate in the Digital Workplace Trends research for 2013. This is the 7th year that Jane McConnell has run this research project, with an ever increasing number of participating organizations, and thus a greater breadth of research data from which to draw conclusions.
“The notion of ‘Digital Workplace’ has started to emerge over the last few years to describe the overall landscape of digital resources used by people to do their jobs. In this survey, we will use the term “digital workplace” to refer to the combination of information, collaboration and application platforms, services and tools used by the workforce to support their work. The term digital workplace includes the intranet but is not limited to the intranet.
The digital workplace may be on one or several technology platforms. There may be a single point of entry (home page) that serves as a door to the rest, or there may be multiple entry points.
The digital workplace concept, for some organizations, may include their external websites, collaborative spaces with external partners and customers and external social platforms. (This is not the focus of this survey.)“
