Adoption & Effective Use

IBF24 on User Adoption

I spoke on IBF24 this afternoon (my time) on user adoption for social tools. If you are a member of IBFLive you can listen to the recording.

A few key points from my 20 minutes:
– User adoption requires intentional effort. It doesn’t just happen. “Overnight success stories” are backed up by lots of work, just like “luck favors the prepared.”
– The best model is when IT and the business work together. If IT merely throws the stuff over the wall, nothing great to going to happen. Each group requires the other. It’s best when they collaborate about being collaborative.
– In the context of intranets, collaboration is important. It transforms the intranet from “somewhere to read stuff” to “somewhere to get work done.”

Thanks to the Intranet Benchmarking Forum people for the invitation to take part in IBF24.
