IBM Touting Customer Wins … IBM said that it is winning major enterprise clients for its collaboration software, over Microsoft. “IBM today announced major enterprise client wins for Lotus collaboration software over Microsoft as businesses seek cost efficiencies in today’s economic climate. Recent Lotus wins include The Coca-Cola Company, HSBC, ABB, BASF, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Fidelity Investments, Hyundai, Liberty Mutual, Linde Group, Mass Mutual, Nationwide, State Bank of India, and The Hartford, among others.More

TelePresence Interoperability … BT announced the completion of a successful test for interoperability between Cisco TelePresence deployments at different companies. “BT Global Video Exchange is a service that allows Cisco TelePresence connections between companies, driving more use and a faster return on investment. With businesses continuing to focus on reducing travel costs and lowering CO2 emissions, an increasing number are using Cisco TelePresence as a solution. BT alone managed to save 192 million pounds Sterling ($315 million) in travel costs and cut its CO2 emissions by as much as 84,087 tonnes last year by holding 1,976,438 conference and video calls.More

Research on Team Diversity … Diversity among team members may lead to sub-optimal performance, recent research has found. “For years, the conventional wisdom has been that teams comprised of diverse members are more valuable to an organization and its business than homogenous teams. However, new academic research now calls this into question, with evidence suggesting that teams made up of members from diverse backgrounds are less likely to share information with one another, are more focused on finding commonality with each other than arriving at the best solution and, consequently, have a harder time reaching the best decisions.” One suggestion is to make better use of a facilitator in the early stages.
