Conference Notes

BrightStar 7th Annual Information Management Summit (March 2009, New Zealand)

I will be speaking at the upcoming BrightStar 7th Annual Information Management Summit in New Zealand in March 2009.

I am doing two things at the conference.

Conference Session: Encouraging and Promoting Change in Groups and Teams
I asked if I could do a session looking at changing social patterns in groups and teams, the focus of current work and my PhD.

You have selected a great technology that is poised to usher in tremendous benefits for the organisation and the people who use it, but once it is rolled out, it gets rejected and the project fails. Why? What causes that? In this presentation, Michael Sampson outlines the factors that constrain change in groups and teams when new technology is introduced, and by understanding and planning for these factors, you will be better placed to make your project a success.

Pre-Conference Workshop: Using SharePoint to Work Effectively

I’m delighted at the opportunity to co-present a SharePoint workshop with Grant Margison of Information Leadership. Together we will be looking at how to use SharePoint to work effectively.

SharePoint is taking the world by storm. This workshop shows how
SharePoint can help you to collaborate, share documents and manage projects. While SharePoint offers many technical features for collaboration, how do you embrace those features in line with the sociology of groups and teams? How can we scale these approaches so that they can be used organisation wide.

Hope to see you there (at one or both)!
