Chuan is talking about knowledge management at the DSTA in Singapore. Project management is a key part of their work … for project formation, project collaboration, and project delivery. Have lots of processes within each of these areas.
Today’s workplace solution for working together … local drives, email … leaves to print-and-file, and record-keeping. Also lots of face-to-face meetings.
One challenge they sought to study was how networks within organizations can lead to change.
Have split the DSTA into certain competency areas, and people are encouraged to focus on improving competency areas.
The new workplace location:
– a base content management system
– community areas, relevant actions in the portal, and email
– person’s home page (social contact card and interests). A staff member can post their resume, and their own homepage will pull from other parts of the system (eg, the community contributions) to show what people are doing.
– they use eRoom for collaboration.
– the workgroup portal … membership, tasks, notes, meetings, actions, email notifications, and more.
– people can leave comments and history on action items
Good to see what the DSTA has built to make a new electronic workplace.
