Team Collaboration

  • Yon MeetingSense 2.0 … Yon Software released Version 2.0 of MeetingSense, software to help people have successful meetings. “MeetingSense software dramatically improves meeting productivity by empowering employees to automatically capture, distribute, archive, and manage all of the critical information that is shared during meetings, while allowing users to easily assign and track action items. MeetingSense helps organizations improve their overall meeting efficiency.” It integrates with Outlook. Yon Software (hat tip, Tom)
  • SharePoint and ECM … AIIM have launched a new blog focused on the intersection of SharePoint and traditional ECM technologies. SharePoint Meets ECM (hat tip, Peter)
  • Which Channel? … Chris provides a decision tree for use when deciding which communication tool to use for engaging with others, giving recommendations for: messages about yourself, quick questions, messages of substance, and more. Chris Brogan
  • Public Folders Hanging On … Although Microsoft wants users to shift away from Exchange Public Folders to SharePoint sites and lists, users and organizations are holding fast. “There is no big rush to move off of public folders today because Microsoft has said it will fully support the feature through the life of Exchange Server 2007, which goes to 2016 — the end of its extended support lifecycle. Microsoft has not said whether or not it will support public folders in the next major release of Exchange.” Migration of Public Folders and data therein is problematic; apart from the Quest Public Migrator for SharePoint, there aren’t many tools available.   • Versionate … Versionate offers a hosted wiki for team collaboration on business documents. “For business documents, no matter where we are, we need to collaborate on documents and to know which version is the latest. Versionate gives us a document store, and also shows the differences between versions and who made what edits.” It supports the most common document formats on the market today.   • Craig’s Tools … Craig outlines the mobile tools he (currently) uses to make a constantly mobile work life work: a small and light Dell notebook, two cell phones, a Nokia 770, and various remote access software / service solutions. SearchMobileComputing
  • Chapura FolderMirror … Chapura released FolderMirror, for wireless and cabled synchronization between Outlook calendar and contact folders, Exchange Public Folders, and SharePoint lists and a plethora of mobile devices. Available immediately. PDAStreet
  • Sybase and iPhone … Sybase demonstrated access to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino email, calendar and contacts on an Apple iPhone. The demo was done using its iAnywhere Suite, and also permitted click-to-call with the address book. ZDNet
