On the Demo Floor with Kate Swanson from Leverage Software

Leverage Software is private-labelled social networking software. Create communities for companies, for internal, with developers, to channel partners. It’s all about connecting people on a one-to-one basis, and connecting them to content.

For an individual, they get to set up a profile. The system asks two pages of information about who you are, and what you are looking for. After filling out the profile, you can find people with common interests. The most interesting and cool feature is the people map, which gives a concentric circle of people with highly common people close to the center, and less common people further to the edge. If someone has a point of common interest they will show, but if not will be ignored.

In terms of content, you can participate in a group discussion … have blogs, chat, shared files.

Two points of differentiation: (1) started out with the intention of connecting people to people, and (2) the platform is open … have lots of APIs, can integrate external applications … it is much more of a platform than a closed product.
