- Real-Time Collaboration for Lawyers … Brett argues that it’s time for lawyers to stop email files around or using an extranet site for file sharing, and instead to start using a real-time screen sharing / joint authoring / editing tool for document review. “The “sharing my screen” is the key feature of real-time collaboration. When you draft a document and need someone else to look it over, you can simply call them on the phone and invite them to your GoToMeeting session. Your team can read through the document on their computer screens and make changes in real time. If you don’t understand a suggestion someone is making, you can simply hand over control of the mouse and keyboard to that person and they can make the changes themselves — right on your computer. You don’t have to wait for them to e-mail a document back. The changes are made right in front of you on your own computer.” Law.com
