Dan at CNN Business Insider writes about Apple’s three biggest weaknesses:
“Apple and CEO Steve Jobs have celebrated a string of huge hits over the past several years, including the iPhone, the iPad and the MacBook Air.
Reviews have been mostly glowing, sales have been strong and investors have cheered, sending the stock up 40% over the past 12 months. Apple, which was struggling a decade ago, is now the world’s most admired and highly valued tech company.
But Apple is not perfect. In fact, the company has several weaknesses to address:“
The three, are, in Dan’s opinion:
1. The cloud.
3. The living room.
1. I agree with the assertion that “Apple is not perfect,” but wouldn’t list the three “weaknesses” that Dan wrote as the critical ones.
2. With respect to requiring a PC or Mac to activate and sync an iPad (1 or 2), I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t see it as a weakness as such. Personally, I don’t want to download my music library from “a cloud” somewhere, nor would I want the iPad iOS updates to come directly. I’m fine with them going to my Mac first, and then to the iPad.
3. I’d list “lack of a coherent business markets and enterprise markets” software stack as a major weakness. Given the proliferation of Apple devices in business and enterprise accounts, doing more to support the devices would be one great addition, as well as doing more to support collaborative working between people.
4. I hope Apple keeps on producing great products. They’ve made my life much easier.
